Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look today at this Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro LED Fog Pod Light. Now this three inch LED fog pod light is going to give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. This is gonna be a great option to consider if you're looking to upgrade the fog lights on your vehicle. And as you can see, I have this connected to my power source already, and what you're seeing here is my favorite feature of these lights.
It's the backlight, and this is a white backlight, and this is gonna be great for a stylish touch or for more visibility when you're not using your main beam. I went ahead and turned my studio lights off here just to give you a better demonstration of what this is going to look like in low light or dark conditions. And I'm going out for a wire view just so you can see what this is gonna look like from a distance. Now let me go ahead and activate that fog beam and you can see just how much brighter that is from the backlight. So here's your backlight and then your fog beam pattern.
And let see if I can shine this on the wall behind me. So that fog beam pattern is gonna give you high intensity light and an extremely wide field of view, as you can see there. This light has a color temperature of 6,000 kelvin, so that cool white color will match most of your factory lights. And this has a raw lumen rating of 5,796 lumens, and then a measured lumen rating of 3000 lumens. And then I'm gonna go ahead and turn my studio lights back on.
And even with my overhead lights on, you can still see just how bright this light is. I'll shine that back on the wall again behind me. So very bright light, it's gonna be a very efficient light. The peak beam intensity of this light is 11,900 candelas. Now you're probably wondering what does candela mean Well, candela ratings measure the directional light output, and it's how anything is rated where you want lights shining in a specific direction.
Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. The power draw on that main beam is 2.7 amps, and on the back light it's 0.03 amps. Now this light is designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike older technologies that use reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't too efficient at focusing all of the light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of the light forward very efficiently. And from there, instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into the surface of this lens. So this is going to prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. So typically when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're going to lose up to 10% of that light just from its shining through that lens. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're gonna actually pick up some efficiency. Now this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsche style connector. So you see what it looks like plugged in there, and then that's what the plug is actually going to look like. I got another pigtail here. And so that's just going to clip into place for a secure hold. And then looking at the back of the light here, you see that we have this breather patch and that's going to allow any moisture to evaporate. You're not gonna have moisture bill up in this light or anything like that. And then the heat sinks here on the back of the housing, they're gonna do a great job of dissipating the heat quickly to increase the longevity of this light. Now this light has been built with high intensity LED chips and it features a durable powder coated aluminum construction. The heavy duty construction will withstand extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. And testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting note, Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled this light right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. Now the overall width from end to end, we're sitting about three and a quarter inches wide. The overall height, again, from end to end is gonna be the same measurement, three and a quarter inches tall. And then the overall depth from the front of our light to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting at about two and three eights inches deep. Now this light draws high current and it does require adequately sized wiring for its safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you wanna be sure to use wire that's sized at 16 gauge or larger to ensure safe operation. Now we do also offer the option to get this light with a bracket kit, or you can get two of these lights with a bracket kit or without bracket kits. We have other options available, other types, other colors, other intensities, all available here at etrailer.com from Diode Dynamics. So if this isn't exactly what you're looking for, I'm confident we can find just the light setup that you're looking for. Well, I hope that our time together was illuminating for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
